2021
Overview
From June 2019- June 2021 Radx Magazine was a passion project of mine highlighting local creatives of all art forms in one publication. I came up with the idea back in December 2018. It was originally intended to be a digital magazine that transformed into a quarterly print publication. The marketing, the branding, the design, and the direction were my responsibility, while I had additional support from a team to help with the writing, editing, and podcast.
Radx Magazine was created to highlight powerful artists of all forms who aren’t regularly published or covered. Celebrating art in every medium, we take pride in featuring impactful works of art which range from photography, painting, modeling, illustration, graphic design, fashion, and much more. Recognizing the inequity that exists in the arts and therefore primarily focus on intersectional voices and talent.
A platform for Local Creatives
To showcase their work & their stories
To network with other artists
To connect with a larger audience
A platform for The Community
To directly support local artists
To engage with other art enthusiasts
To find inspiration and direction
As the founder and creative director of Radx Magazine, I established a platform dedicated to showcasing the talents of powerful artists across various mediums who often go unnoticed in traditional publications. Our mission revolves around celebrating art in its myriad forms, from photography to fashion, illustration to graphic design, and beyond. We take pride in featuring impactful works that resonate deeply with our audience. Moreover, we are committed to addressing the inequities within the arts industry by prioritizing intersectional voices and talent, thereby fostering a more inclusive and diverse creative community.
Creating the branding for Radx really had to start with the mission statement and why the company even started. I brainstormed a few different ideas and finally settled on “Radx” incorporating a version of my last name. From there I researched other brand identity and formed a logo and branding guide. Implementing and constantly ensuring consistency is a big part of running Radx.
As the founder, creative director, and lead designer of Radx Magazine, I undertook the responsibility of crafting every aspect of the publication, from its conceptualization to its layout. With a keen eye for design and a passion for storytelling, I meticulously curated the visual identity of the magazine, ensuring that each page captivated and resonated with our audience. From selecting fonts and colors to arranging content in a visually compelling manner, I aimed to create an immersive reading experience that showcased the diverse talents and perspectives featured within our pages. Through my dedication to crafting an engaging and aesthetically pleasing layout, I sought to elevate Radx Magazine into a premier platform for showcasing emerging and underrepresented artists across various artistic disciplines.
From concept to a fully functioning website. I created the organization, user experience, working within WordPress to create the end result. While designing, I kept in mind the blog aspect, I also made sure to incorporate some essentials on the back end, such as Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, and so on.
Outcome
Over 1,000 people in attendance at the launch party.
Print: Over 18K spreads in circulation and 400+ issues printed.
Digital: 8.9K average monthly unique visitors and 6.3K website sessions.
